In recent years mulching your lawn has become increasingly popular. We have all become more environmentally aware, but the fact that mulching actually makes the job of cutting your lawn easier has given the trend greater impetus.
Mulching refers to cutting the blades of grass more than once. By using the
airflow to hold the grass clippings in the lawn mowers cutting deck for longer the clippings are cut more than once. These smaller clippings are returned to the lawn.
Why does cutting the grass clippings more than once make a difference? Well firstly it means that you should not even see the mulched clippings when they are returned to the lawn. Secondly grass degrades from the cut ends only. A traditionally cut blade of grass has just 1 cut end. Grass that has been mulched might have up to 7. So if you cut your lawn every week or so
with a mulching lawn mower, the clippings should be fully degraded within 2-4 days. All the nutrients having been returned to your lawn. And of course without the hassle of emptying your grass box as you cut the lawn.
ALKO is an Austrian manufacturer of lawn mowers that has been in the market for over 75 years. Their range of Mulching lawn mowers now includes an electric mower; the ALKO 470E High Wheeler. This mower offers another feature of ALKO mowers which is the large wheels giving improved manoeuvrability. The ALKO 4610HPD Mower, again offers mulching and other benefits such as power drive and variable throttle.
At the top end of the ALKO Mulching range is the ALKO 5250HWS Mower petrol lawn mower. This mower offers what ALKO call '4 in 1'. It will collect the clippings, mulch the clippings, discharge the clippings to the rear, or discharge to the side. The ultimate in mower versatility. Obviously on top of this the mower offers a good width of cut, variable throttle, and power drive.
