Prior Park returns from the Wilderness
27/09/2007
| The restoration of the Wilderness at Prior Park Landscape Garden has reached its culmination with the completion of the Serpentine Lake and Cascade. Originally designed for Ralph Allen's garden by Alexander Pope in the 18th century, the Wilderness is the final landscape of the restoration jigsaw that the Trust began in
1993, when it acquired the garden. Since that time, the Trust has been working to restore the garden to what we believe it would have been like in 1764, the year of Ralph Allen's death. |
