Gardens 'can attract house buyers'

27/09/2007

A well presented garden can be a real attraction to home buyers, according to the results of a new survey.

Research conducted by Halifax Estate Agents found the outdoor features most likely to improve a property's saleability are mature shrubs and trees, patios and sheds.

Decking is also attractive to potential buyers,

particularly younger ones, while rose gardens and water features were considered a plus point by many.

However, the research also discovered that gardens could put people off a house, with rubbish, unkempt lawns and overgrown plants among the things likely to deter prospective purchasers.
